Job Description:

We are seeking a Casual Perioperative Scrub/Scout or Day Surgery Registered Nurse for our one theatre Day Hospital.

If you are an enthusiastic Registered Nurse looking for a change, along with an opportunity to develop your clinical skills in an ophthalmic area, this is the ideal role for you.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work closely with surgeons, anaesthetists & other stakeholders, to provide excellent patient care
• Ability to recognise and respond to deteriorating patients
• Ensure appropriate and comprehensive documentation

Mandatory Criteria: 

• Registered Nurse (Division 1) with current Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia registration with AHPRA
• Working with Vulnerable People card

Essential skills:

• Deliver safe and effective nursing care to patients in the day surgery environment whilst administering general RN duties
• Attentive to detail and adaptable to work independently as well as collaboratively
• Ability to establish interpersonal relationships and collaborate with the wider healthcare team to support patient care needs
• Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication with basic computer literacy
• Flexibility to accommodate unanticipated changes in rostering based on facility requirements

Highly Desirable Skills:

• Previous nursing experience in Ophthalmology care
• Previous scrub/scout and or Day surgery experience
• Current Advanced Life Support certificate
• Active involvement in Quality Improvement activities
• Ability to work unsupervised, proficiently and in an organised manner

The role reports to the Clinical Manager/Director of Nursing.
